As a child whom immigrated to Canada in the 1990s I fully believed in the dream of this nation thinking it was the best anywhere on the planet. Little did I know that the cannucks are so oppressed and abused as a people that not only are they not allowed to communicate with the English language but they had to resort to subtle hints.
It is now almost thirty years since I am a citizen. And this has been demonstrated to me without a doubt by the authorities on numerous occasions. My father is now a murder victim though not classified as such. I was homeless, locked up, even tortured within and outside of this nation. And yet at least I know for myself am not a threat to no man. In fact, what’s worse is I was born almost fully blind so I know I couldn’t harm a fly. This all is in line with the first subtle hint the Canadian people sent my family, which we ignored and which I just now deciphered.
These social hints are akin to body language people use to communicate, such as shaking ones head instead of saying “no” to a thing. You’d only know what the gesture means if you seen it before associated with the meaning. There’s no reason why shaking the head left to right means a single thing, unless we as a society associate it with some pre-communicated and pre-established pattern of response to a thing. And as humans we decided left to right and up and down movements of the head mean different things.
Similarly the citizens of Canada cannot control the message the government sends into the world about their nation. We the citizens have zero input into the beliefs of others about Canada as a whole. And no government is ever going to have a campaign for a prison culture stating “Come to our nation and get tortured and abused for our benefit” will they? Imagine North Korea’s leadership tourism campaign “Get jacked in our prison’s yards! Come one come all!”. Would you sign up for that cruise line? But now imagine if North Korea had a perfectly manicured image outside of its borders. If we all thought North Korea was a beautiful fantasy island where beautiful women (and men!) lounge around in freedom and unity. Would you sign up for that if you were in a war torn nation? I bet you would, in fact I bet you’d kill to get there. In fact, I bet you’d make your nation into North Korea to get to North Korea!
That is what Canada is. You see, I require a thousand dollar pair of reading glasses due to my low vision condition. Without these glasses I can not do a single thing. Everyone knows Canada advertises itself as a helpful nation full of smiling happy individuals whom love each other, are open minded, and are accepting of differences on such a level that even disabled people like me should feel at ease and supported and nurtured so we can feel the good aspects life has to offer. Canada states it has “universal health care”, a “social support system”, and is even kind to, get this, women! Yes, Canada loves its women just like its men. So then why for thirty years now has the government never once given me a single penny towards the purchase of a pair of glasses?
It’s real simple. I feel it was the only signal the people of Canada could send the disabled people out there that something horribly was wrong with this nation. It’s just that, well, I never understood it, and now it’s too late. Within the borders of this nation, I’ve even had cops verbally ridiculing the artwork in my apartment, calling me names, handcuffing me without justification, locking me up and far far worse. Granted, these are not the things you’ll hear on CBC, for that empire only ever preaches how wonderful and beautiful the land is. As well when you tell even Canadians the stories of how bad Canada is as a nation they say in disbelief “That doesn’t happen in Canada!”. Indeed, but try and search the history records of all of Canada’s wrong doings and see how you fare and what you believe afterwards. After four years of high school and a bit of university, I never once heard, for example, about Canada’s residential schools where natives were horribly abused. Shouldn’t this have been presented at least once after YEARS of education on the subject? Censorship within the education system and in the external advertising campaigns is tremendous. Even the Toronto Police are abusive of anyone who is heard muttering anti-nationalistic phrases. I once said on the phone “Toronto is such an ugly place” and a cop yelled in my ear “Why don’t you leave then!”. The difference in expressing opinions is that I am not the one with a gun and a bulletproof vest, so one of us was inappropriately behaving in that instance.
This is just one tiny fraction of what Canada has become by the second decade of the 21st century and it’s no coincidence either. All these problems are the cummulative sum total of feminism, greenpeace, weed, gangs, and social and police services efforts to all decide what is best for others when in fact most of y’all don’t even grasp how to stretch for half an hour every morning and the benefits of this simple lifestyle change. People, at least in Toronto, like to preach about equality and heartful positive expressions of love, but then they go out there and destroy their environment and their own lives. This double sidedness exists only when people are internally torn - when they want to lead good lives but something or someone is preventing them. Imagine a supermodel hitting herself in the head. That’s what Canada is. Not a pretty picture, eh? Better luck next time UN. Canada is nowhere near a good nation, but certainly it can be the best, as long as all the other ones are worse.
